This blog will help us to discover New Jersey together outside of our classroom adventures. The more we get out and explore our state, the more we can understand how where we are influences what we are.

These three pictures represent all my meals for the day. I started my day off with a classic Taylor Ham from bagel chat (middle picture for those of you who can't see). As we've learned in class Taylor Ham sandwiches are only made in New Jersey. Then I had an amazing sandwich from the deli. I had a buffalo Big Bird which consists of buffalo chicken blue cheese and some other stuff. New Jersey is filled with delis. Then to finish the day off I had a chicken parm sub from la strada. New Jersey is known to have a lot of Italian influence and we see this through all the pizzerias and straight Italian restaurants.

Rocha you made it evident that there are great places to eat around us, the Deli being one of the more superior eateries. Living in Short Hills gives many options for where someone to eat, and I think that also pertains to the rest of New Jersey
ReplyDeleteWow, I have never ever seen these places before. Who new we could get all this food from locations that are so close to each other. We are very lucky to live in New Jersey and have opportunities to eat many different types of food. Living in an area with so many different cultures really allows us to explore new and different things. New Jersey is truly a melting pot.
ReplyDeleteNick, I completely agree with your last statement of New Jersey having a lot of Italian influence. I too enjoy Italian food and am a frequent costumer at La Strada and Mia Famiglia and believe the Italian influence on New Jersey is a massive aspect in making it the state it is today.
ReplyDeleteThese three restaurants are just a few examples of the good food around our state particularly in our town. I agree with nick that there is a lot of italian influence in the cuisine around where we live which is a huge part of the culture. Food in general is a major part of ones culture and theses three places and nicks orders play into that.
ReplyDeleteThese restaurants are definitely some of my favorite around town. The Millburn Deli is extremely popular. People travel from other towns to come eat there. Also, Bagel Chat is a typical great breakfast / lunch place to catch an amazing bagel with whatever you want on it. Taylor Ham, Egg, and Cheese is amazing from there, and it's significant since Taylor Ham is only a Jersey thing!
ReplyDeleteObviously these are the best places to go in Millburn. I've gone to the Deli twice in the last two days for some great food. I really do not enjoy Bagel Chat though because I am very loyal to Oscars. I recently went to Lastrada for a nice family dinner so I approve of 2/3 restaurants.
